Guidelines
The Department of General Practice in Würzburg is involved in evidence research and assessment and subsequently in the development of recommendations.
New development of the S3 guideline "Thyroid nodules in adults. Recommendations on prevention, diagnosis and therapy in primary care" (LeiSE).
About half of the adults in Germany have at least one thyroid nodule. These are mostly harmless and do not need to be treated. Recognizing the few dangerous courses is a challenge for general practitioners. You need to know when a thyroid nodule might need treatment. Any further care that may be required by other departments must also be well coordinated. However, there is no corresponding guideline for this.
The aim of the project is to develop a new S3 guideline on the prevention, diagnosis, and therapy of thyroid nodules, which will primarily support primary care. In the first step, the clinically relevant key questions of the guideline will be agreed upon. This is followed by a systematic evidence search and evaluation. Based on this, recommendations are formulated and a first long version of the guideline is drafted. This will lead to a short version of the guideline and a patient guideline, which will then be tested in 20 GP practices.
